Error 1603 while installing Skype

Error 1603 while installing Skype. While trying to install Skype in the Windows computer, you may receive the error 1603.

The same resolution steps has to be performed if the error appears as follows

a. Close Encounter with Error 1603.

b. Installing skype failed; code 1603.

c. Fatal error during the installation code 1603.

d. Object is exist Installing skype failed; code 1603.

Resolution steps:

Follow the below steps to fix the error 1603 while installing Skype.

Step 1: Completely uninstall and reinstall Skype for Windows desktop

Method 1: Re installing using Revo Uninstaller

1.  Download and install Revo Uninstaller Pro (Trial version available)

2.  Open Revo Uninstaller Pro, look for Skype and double-click on it.  A confirmation window will appear asking if you wish to proceed with the uninstallation.

3. Once you confirm the window below will appear.  Just wait for the processes to complete:

4.  After completion, click the Scan button and wait for the results.  Then the window below will appear.

5.  Click Select All and Delete.  A second similar window may appear.  Just the same, click Select All then the Delete button again.

6.  Restart your computer then install Skype version of your choice.

 

Method 2: Alternatively, you can also try the Skype Complete Uninstall procedure, as this process also aims to delete all traces of Skype in your computer.  Link to procedure pasted below.

Close Skype and make sure that Skype is no longer running.

If you need to, save your personal information. Your contacts, purchases and account information are stored on Skype servers, but other personal files such as chat messages, voice messages and video snapshots taken during video calls, are only saved on your computer. To keep this personal information, you need to make a copy of it:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows and R keys to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type %appdata%\skype and click OK.
  3. Copy the Pictures folder and the folder with your Skype Name to another location, such as your desktop.
Uninstall Skype:
1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo and R keys to open the Run dialog.
2. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
3. Right-click Skype in the list that appears and select Remove or Uninstall.
Delete the Skype application folder:
1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo and R keys to open the Run dialog.
2. Type %appdata% and click OK.
3. Delete the Skype folder.
Make sure that the Skype program folder has been deleted:
1. Go to C:\Program Files (in Windows 8 and above, go to C:\Program Files (x86)).
2. Delete the Skype folder and the SkypePM folder (if present).
Delete any Skype entries from the Registry:
  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo and R keys to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type regedit and click OK. This launches the Registry Editor.
  3. In the Registry Editor’s Edit menu, click Find.
  4. Search for the keyword Skype and click Find Next.
  5. Use right-click to delete all the search results (there can be up to 50).
Step 2: Download and install the latest version of Skype from below link.

Step 3: Restore your personal information if you saved it:
  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows and R keys to open the Run dialog.

2. Type %appdata%\skype and click OK.

3. Copy the two folders you previously saved into this folder.
